Martha Jean Allen, age 80
November 18, 1926 - July 14, 2007
Martha Jean Allen, resident of Waxahachie, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, July 14, 2007. Born Martha Jean Milam, November 18, 1926 in Vernon, Texas but grew up in the then thriving community of Reagor Springs, Texas. On December 24, 1945, she married Herschel Doolen Allen. Martha was known in Waxahachie as "the AVON Lady" throughout her 40 years in AVON sales. She was a member of the College Street Church of Christ and the Rebekahs of Waxahachie. Survived by three sons, Mickey D. Allen and his wife, Sheri of Midlothian, Charles G. Allen and his wife Brenda of Red Oak and Herschel Dwayne Allen and his wife, Elda of Waxahachie; five grandsons, Chris, Bradley and his wife, Ashley, Ryan, Kirby, and Keaton; and one great granddaughter, Hallie. Also survived by two brothers, Robert Milam of Dalhart and Glen Milam of DeSoto and one sister, Mary Hartsfield of Reagor Springs. Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Herschel Doolen Allen; her parents, Meddie and Carrie Milam; brothers MT, Clyde and Melvin; one sister Elizabeth and two granddaughters Carrie and Avery Allen.

Melvin Splawn Milam, 77, passed away January 26, 2007 at Medical City, Dallas, Texas. He was born in Reagor Springs, Texas on December 17, 1929 and has lived in DeSoto, Texas the past 45 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a retired employee of the Keebler Cookie Company. He was a deacon in the Baptist Church and thoroughly committed to his Lord Jesus the Christ. The last years of his life he attended church at Hampton Road Baptist Church in DeSoto, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years: Hilda Kennieth Milam; father: Meddie Thomas Milam; mother: Carrie Leona Milam; sister: Ruth Elizabeth Milam; brothers: M.T. Milam and Clyde Milam. He is survived by his daughter: Melva Milam Bush and her husband Don; son: Stanley Thomas Milam and his wife Cindy; son: Carlton Wayne Milam; sisters: Martha Jean Allen and Mary Katherine Hartsfield; brothers: Robert Milam and Glen Milam; numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren: Allison Milam Bush, Meredith Milam Bush, Zachary Wayne Milam, Adam Splawn Milam, Randy Ray Milam, Max Taylor Milam, Matthew D. Bush and his wife Ann, Jackson Bush, Ashley Bush and Andrew Bush. He was a loyal and devoted husband. He was a committed loving father. He never met a stranger and he will be missed terribly.
